Blog break.

It has been a while since I have posted.  And in that lull of creativity, I believe I've become complacent with my daily routine.  And that saddens me a little.  I hate getting into the process of "every day is exactly the same" and in fact, I listened to the song Everyday is exactly the same from Nine Inch Nails this morning.  Its a boring feeling and one that I wish would pass.  I need excitement.  I need entertainment.  I need blogging.  So welcome back to me.  And welcome back to the blogging experience.  And this week I feel I'm going to do something new.  Something adventurous.  And I encourage you to as well.

Innovation!

I feel like the level of diversity available to our society today is astounding. I sit here writing this very blog from the comfort of a stone floor. But now that I am done being amazed at the fact I can write from my phone. Let's begin with a real issue.

I'd like to continue off of last weeks post about stress. Except this time focus more on procrastination. I'll admit I am a horrible offender of this. But I in no way feel that it hinders my ability to complete projects. As I said before. I work well under stress. So it's not that I'm encouraging procrastination. Because for most people it's not as fantastic. All I'm saying is that occasionally its not so bad. Besides. Everyone does it. So how can something so widespread be all that bad in the first place. So. Innovation of writing this from anywhere. And procrastination is great. I believe my point has been given effectively.

That which drives us

Stress.  The all familiar sting that every person on this planet will feel at one point or another.  Stress is the driving force, the fuel by which all college students thrive... Well stress and energy drinks.  But stress is not limited to students, to teachers, to anyone.  I feel that if we take control of our stress, then we can be better people.  That is all that is meant to be taught by it.  There are a few different kinds of people when it comes to stress; those who can handle it and work well, and those who think they can handle it and eventually go insane because of it.  I hope that I am the former, but who knows.  Stress can be a wonderful thing.  It can remind you that "oh wait, I have to do a post before 8AM."  And when you realize that there is always a way to conquer your  stress, then you also realize that its before 8AM somewhere.  But as with any situation, the greater the stress involved, the better you will feel when you overcome that.   And I am quite the advocate of completing things that most people tell me I can't.

Over Simplification

So I feel like there are a lot of instances where a good case of over simplification would be effective.  People spend so much time thinking things through, thinking of all the possible outcomes of their actions.  They feel that they must know everything before taking a chance.  But as everyone knows, With great risk, comes great reward.  So I feel like people should simplify their lives.  They should see something good that is happening in their life and just go with it.  Not think too hard about what could go wrong.  This is especially true for myself.  But as I'm finding out, not thinking is the greatest thought I've had in a while.  It gives a somewhat cleared frame of mind.  And allows for new thoughts to form, and grow and become great.
So I ask that you do the same.  Think about NOT thinking.  Simplify your life for a day and lose yourself in something meaningless.  It could end up being the most meaningful thing you've done in a while.  I've seen great inspiration from this weekend.  And I only wish that others can get the same experience.

It Came to me in a Dream

A great man once said "All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream".  An interesting concept to say the least.  And one that I have given great thought.  Because dreaming is our escape.  It is a resolve to the madness of every day.  Sometimes the dreams can be unpleasant, but in every case they are a reflection of the lives we lead.  So the next dream I have, I won't look at it as a nightmare or a good dream.  But I feel that I should look at it as a learning experience.  To see the life that my subconscious is telling me I live and see if that's really what I want my life to be.
What is a dream, but a window to a place that allows anything and everything. Bending a breaking the laws of every day life with no more then a thought.  Every person involved has some significance in the life of the dreamer.  But every dream cannot be looked at for interpretation.
Let the dream be your escape.
And go to sleep, to dream another dream.

[Insert Title Here]

Everyone has a voice or so I'm told.  I feel like what was said today was very true.  That each person can make a difference if only they stand up and actually speak.  So why do so many people sit back and do nothing. They live their lemming lives and just follow the crowd.  They get up every single day and do the same thing, day in, day out.  They aren't living life at this point they are merely existing.  And the world is filled with them.  Drones, mindless, they make few choices in life that are worth anything.  But without them, the people who do speak up wouldn't matter either.  You see we need people who follow.  We need people who question what they are told, and hopefully change their habits because of it.  Without the horde of followers, my voice can mean nothing.  Because if every single person is speaking their opinion, then we have a giant conflict of interest.  and nothing good ever comes from that.
I like to think that the people I associate with have been helped by me.  In a professional sense, I'm very cold and calculated.  When I have a problem I am alone and will figure it out as soon as I know how to.  I will not give up on it and I will find a way to solve it.  But In my social life, I like to help people.  I like to talk to friends who are having a less than perfect day because I feel I can make a difference.  I hope that I can continue this through my life and help people.  Its an excellent feeling that I wish everyone could have.
And I feel as though I've rambled on enough for the night.  For some reason my incoherent thoughts told me they were enough to be put to paper, or text at least.  I encourage people to not be the lemming.  To take what we were told today into consideration.  Helping a single person can be just as satisfying as a group of thousands if you put yourself into it.  It all goes back to the passionate ideal.   As long as you're passionate about something, you will always have something to gain.

Music Library

So I feel like talking about a less serious topic this week.  And what better to talk about then music, the art form that everyone can enjoy.
I really enjoy listening to most kinds of music, except country music.  For some reason I just can't bring myself to like country musicians.  Its nothing against the people just a personal choice.  However what I have been listening to a lot lately involves a lot of drum and bass, techno, and beat based music.  Its interesting to see how expressive people can be without saying a word.  There are songs like The Glitch Mob - Fortune Days that have absolutely no words involved, yet make you feel involved.  I like listening to new types of music and seeing what ideas I can get from it.  I'm not an artistic person, but I like to think of myself as a "thinking" man.  I say that because I use music to give me ideas.  To inspire me in whatever I may be doing.  I listen to music to get to sleep, to inspire a great sleep you could say.  I listen to music to write this very blog.  I listen to music because its everywhere, and it is just as varied and unique as the people who write the songs.
How do you listen to music? How do you let music influence your life and what kinds of music do you enjoy?

A New Beginning

A first blog post among many to come.  I have been thinking about the things that were talked about by Wendi Thomas, and I've come to a realization.  There are really few people to take accountability for themselves or their actions.  As a column writer, she has to deal with speaking the truth, unbiased and unfiltered, every week.
I've seen a chain letter going around talking about a tragic shooting.  In the letter it mentions stricter gun laws wouldn't solve violent crimes.  Saying that they would is like saying pencils make misspelling errors, and cars drive drunk.
Now I see what the letter is talking about and I see how it relates to a violent crime being blamed on the person not the means.  But would that really solve anything? In the world we live in today, there will always be misguided people.  There will always be people who misconstrue the news and see a target painted on someone's face as a sign to act on that.  I think the best people in these situations are people like Wendi Thomas.  The ones who can take a step back, outside the situation and give an honest opinion.
I believed what she said about being able to affect someone's life in the ways that she has is a very powerful thing.  If more people had the same mindset, of an outside opinion, and would take more accountability for their own actions, then maybe we could actually get somewhere as a society.
But we all know that won't happen. So we make the best of it! and move on with our day.  We let our voice be heard, and hope that it can change the mind of at least one or two people.  We do the best we can with the time we have.  And that's all anyone really ever can do.
